The MSHA Constitution was agreed by the Committee Members of MSHA on 19/05/2008
The purpose / objects of Medical School Hypnosis Association (MSHA) (hereafter known as
“the group”) will be to:
- Represent medical students who wish to conduct research into hypnosis.
- Enable medical students by providing access to researchers and funding.
- Provide information on training and current research.
- Facilitate projects and develop contacts with consultants interested in research.
- Membership of the group will be open to medical students who have completed an SSM/SSC/SCM in clinical hypnosis plus those having an interest in hypnosis research or working in the field of hypnosis research, and the following will also be invited:
Other representatives, as deemed necessary by the groups members.
- In addition to work in partnership, the group will encourage representatives from the medical profession to be co-opted to ensure that their knowledge and expertise can play a part in the decision-making process.
- Members of the group will/may be requested to give continuity of attendance at meetings by appointing a substitute to attend the group meetings in their absence.
- The group will meet annually and aim to alternate between day and early evening meeting times. A minimum of three in attendance is required.
- Where necessary, the group shall have the power to call a larger meeting in order to consult with the wider community on any issues.
- The Chair of the group will be appointed at the first meeting and then on an annual basis.
- A Secretary will be appointed at the first meeting to provide the administration of the group. Agendas and minutes will be prepared by Secretary, in consultation with the Chair of the group.
- The group will not directly manage funding for research projects as these will be paid directly to participants from funders. Whilst initially, the financial activity of the group will be minimal, the group will make appropriate arrangements for the management of any finances they are directly responsible for and will appoint a Treasurer for the group at the first group meeting (or when deemed appropriate) to oversee and be responsible for reporting on the group’s finances.
- An Annual report of the groups activities shall be prepared and will be reported on to group members at an annual general meeting (AGM) of the group.
- Changes to this document or the way in which the group will operate in the future (including dissolution of the group) can be made by agreement of the groups members either at the AGM or at a special general meeting (SGM).
