Ursula James
Ursula James is an Honorary Lecturer at Barts and The London Medical School, Visiting Teaching Fellow at Oxford University Medical School and head of the clinical hypnosis lecturing team which teaches at most of the UK's medical schools. She is also a Patron of Anxiety UK and the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV).

She has written four books on the subject of clinical hypnosis, as well as numerous articles.

In July 2008 she presented a Channel 5 series on hypnosis and relationships, and continues to appear on TV and radio programmes.

She is currently engaged in PhD research at London Metropolitan University in bio-medical science and psychology.

Project enhancing Learning and Memory Recall for students. Both projects involve assessing the alteration of biochemical stress markers in participants undergoing these intervention methods.

Dr Susannah Baron   MBChB MRCP
Dr Susannah Baron is a Consultant dermatologist working at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. Susannah trained in medical hypnotherapy and became interested in its use as a means to help patients with skin disease.

Susannah is interested in a holistic approach to patients with skin disease. Skin disease can be visible which may cause increased stress and anxiety which in itself can worsen the skin disease. Susannah has completed a study investigating the effect of hypnotherapy on adults and children with moderate to severe atopic eczema. The results of this study have been presented at national and international dermatology meetings.

She is a member of the British Association of Dermatology and is a founder member of the Kent Medical Hypnotherapy Association.

Dr Julia Morch-Siddall
Dr Morch-Siddall is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. She is currently Consultant Obstetric Anaesthetist at the Royal Victoria Infirmary Newcastle upon Tyne and honorary senior lecturer at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

She trained in medical hypnotherapy in 2003. She is currently involved in introducing the use of clinical hypnosis at the RVI as a safe addition to the available analgesia and anaesthesia techniques for childbirth. She is also Founder of the breast cancer hypnotherapy project at RVI Newcastle.

Bill Doult
MSHA Secretary

Bill Doult was the Founding Editor of the European Journal of Clinical Hypnosis (1993-96).

He organised a four year study into “hypnotherapy as a resource for asthma and emphysema patients” at Battle Hospital, Reading (1996-2000) and formed The James Braid Society and was its secretary for 10 years.

He has a hypnotherapy practice in Berkshire.

Christopher Morgan-Locke
Research Hypnotherapist and Press Liaison

Christopher worked for many years in the public sector including the NHS and the Police. In the Nineties he was a Trustee for a drug and alcohol agency and served on the professional advisory board of a national charity dealing with adult survivors of child abuse - eventually becoming a Trustee and the Vice Chair.

For the past 15 years he has worked as a successful therapist specializing in clinical hypnosis, NLP and EMDR. He has developed highly successful protocols using hypnotherapy for addiction, child abuse, PTSD and psychogenic infertility.

He is also an established writer.

Tanya Tansiri
Tanya Tansiri is currently a 3rd year Medical Student at St. George's, University of London, where she also completed her BSc (hons) in Biomedical Science. She began exploring her interest in Clinical Hypnosis through a Special Study Module as part of her medical training.

Tanya is currently conducting research into the use of hypnosis to improve post-surgical outcomes.

Jamie Crawford
Jamie Crawford was at the Hull/York Medical school when he learnt clinical hypnosis on an SSM module. He is currently working at Hull in Obs & Gynae, intending to specialise in colorectal surgery.

He is also working on his hypnotherapy project - "Can pre-operative hypnosis induce better post operative quality of life outcomes after laparoscopic cholecystectomy".

Richard Wassall BA D.Phil
Richard began studying Medicine at Oxford Medical School before deferring his clinical studies to pursue a Doctorate in Pharmacology. His research examined the co-release and effects of autonomic neurotransmitters on smooth muscle cells, specifically characterizing purinergic and noradrenergic cotransmission in the vas deferens. He is now a medical student at Oxford Clinical School and is a preclinical Lecturer in Medicine at Jesus College, Oxford.

Richard became interested in the autonomic effects of hypnosis through a special study module in clinical hypnosis. He is researching whether hypnosis would be useful in helping diabetics achieve better glycaemic control.
